Topsy Turvy

For the NIADA conference last month the theme for the Challenge Doll was Topsy Turvy. I helped come up with the theme because it is a tradition in doll history and I thought it was apropos for the climate we all live in.

I wanted the Topsy and the Turvy to be very distinctly different. So the sculpts  had to be completely different.
Topsy is a more historic view of the women's movement. The face sculpt is softer the skin tone is lighter, and the painting very soft. The slogans are from the roman empire to the civil war. The fabric in her skirt is from the 1880's

Turvy is the modern feminist. Stronger sculpt. Darker skin tone, Modern hair cut. Her shirt fabric is from the 1960's, The slogans are from the 1960's to modern day.

The wooden knob turns her inside out. A true reveal.
