NIADA doll school and convention go on line

NIADA , National Institute of American Doll Artist takes to the internet!

Welcome to the future of Art Dolls

Before the Global pandemic NIADA (National Institute of American Doll Artist) was struggling to stay afloat.    https://www.niada.org/

Started over 50 years ago by a group of doll artist, The group’s aim was to work together toward a common goal: the recognition of original handmade dolls as fine art". The group has largely maintained it’s mission.

They are the primer Art Doll Organization in the USA, and  most of the top Doll Artist belong to this organization. I have had many “off the record” conversations with the artist, collectors and patrons, they all have expressed their concerns about the future of the non profit.

From what I have seen, like many small nonprofits in the Arts, the organization has had to rely on a few members to do the lions share of the work. A aging collector base, a lack of exposer and (in my opinion an elitist attitude of many of the artist) has dwindled the resources and put the organization in a downward slump. This makes for an organization that doesn’t have the manpower or resources to reach beyond what the rely on in the past.

All their efforts have been a yearly convention and doll school. While alternating the location each year helps new artist attend, it is still too costly for many.

This year is so different! In the past there have been approximately 20 attendees, This year there is 100+. This is great news for the organization. At an affordable price, please register and log in. See the best of the craft!
