The Question

After taking a workshop with E J Taylor last July, I  am determined to get the hang of Paper clay.

What you need is Paper clay, Styrofoam ball, oil paint, rabbit skin glue.  

If your are used to Polymer clay, working with paper clay is quite a switch. 

The core is made from styrofoam 

after it is completely dry which takes days, 

it is sealed with rabbit skin glue before the painting begins.

Layer, upon layer of oil paint thinned with turpentine. 

Starting with the light under tones and adding , adding adding.
